Smoke Detectors

We recommend that all homes have at least one working smoke detector fitted per floor level. They should be tested every week, and vacuumed out every six months. Don’t remove batteries from smoke detectors to provide power for Christmas presents.

Take the time to check on elderly relatives and neighbours this Christmas- make sure they are fire safe.

Merry Christmas from us all at PSC

Home Made Decorations

Over the last few years we have attended a number of fires caused by candles being placed in home made decorations (usually made by children). We would strongly ask that schools and parents think about fire safety before making these types of decorations.

Home insurance Christmas risk warning

Every year Britons go out and spend big on festive goodies, but many do not realise the strain this places on their home insurance.

This Christmas UK residents are set to spend £11 billion on presents, decorations and seasonal food - some ten per cent more than last year, figures from More Than reveal.

And as well as adding a considerable amount to the value of home contents, this festive spending surge also makes homes more attractive to burglars and more at risk from accidents and fires.

Presents under the tree mean homeowners are 13 per cent more likely to be burgled in December than any other month of the year, More Than data shows.

Additionally, fires are more likely to occur, with candles adding to the festive spirit and plugs stuffed with plug-in Christmas lights and decorations.

This means that claims on home insurance become far more likely at the very time when people have contents worth more in their homes.

"We tend to splash out on presents and food at this time of the year and therefore have more valuable items in our homes," said Mike Holliday-Williams, managing director of More Than.

"This should be a happy time but opportunistic thieves do strike during the festive season, so it’s really important people make sure they are doing everything they can to prevent burglary or other disasters in their homes."

Homeowners should also check their home insurance policies to ensure they have enough cover over the Christmas period.

Some providers will also automatically increase the amount of cover available at this time of year.

All the hard work put in over the last twelve months were rewarded by PSC receiving two prestigious awards the most developed company and Paul Coughlan was a nominee in the most diligent student award.

Paul Coughlan of PSC said “Ben Kench the CAN CAN man has definitely helped boost our business and to receive not one but two awards was Fantastic and the glass trophy and paperweight will take pride of place in the office from Monday”.

We have worked for just over a year with Ben and his team and by making small changes every month our turnover has gone up over 200% we have been able to turn to Ben for advice when it is needed.

And the other companies who we trained with and attend the monthly sales training course have been a great help to make us realize we all face tough decisions but by helping each other and listing to their problems we feel we have learnt so much all we can say is keep up the hard work and your rewards will come.

And finally to Ben Kench and his team thank you, you are making a difference everyday, I would recommend your training program to everybody you make it fun and you are always there to talk to, to share our success and build us up when we are down you not only are a great company to work with but a true friend I want to congratulate you on your success in landing the contract with business dummies and look forward to many more years of you boosting my sales and personal development.

Hampshire's fire service burns down two houses to show how sprinkler systems can save lives

FIREFIGHTERS in Bishop’s Green spent yesterday setting light to houses instead of putting them out.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service put on a dramatic demonstration to show how sprinkler systems fitted in the home can be the difference between life and death.
Two houses on Beech Road, one fitted with sprinklers and one without, were set alight.
The sprinklers were set off within two minutes, completely extinguishing the fire. In the other house, flames continued to rage and spread from the living room into other areas of the house.
Firefighters had to break into the house after about 12 minutes and put out the flames before they engulfed the whole building.
Fire officers said that the house with the sprinklers would be habitable within a day.
They added that high-risk residents such as the elderly or those with disabilities or drug and alcohol dependency should consider installing a sprinkler system.
Local residents were invited to watch the demonstration in order to get an idea of the importance of fire safety measures.
It costs around £2,500 to kit out a three bedroom semi-detached house with sprinklers in every room. They should be used in conjunction with fire alarms.
Around 400 people are killed by fires every year in the UK.

We would encourage all households to get a detector and test it every week if you would like more information about home fire alarms please contact us on 01455 557877 you can always down load your free guide click on www.pscfiresafety.com scroll down and complete your details.

Watch this space we are hoping to launch a new detector soon.
